OV Multi-DomainAn OV (Organization Validation) SSL certificate validates the organization operating a domain as well as the domain itself. The certificate authority checks official records to confirm that the applying company legally exists, and the organization name is written into the certificate.
Encryption strength is the same as with a DV certificate; the difference is that visitors can see which organization the site belongs to when they open the certificate details. OV is therefore the usual choice for corporate websites, online shops and applications that collect customer data.
DATASSL offers 30 OV SSL products; annual prices start at $41.00. Below are the best-priced OV options of each brand (per year, excl. VAT).

In most cases you do not need to upload documents; the certificate authority verifies your organization itself using official and independent sources. Additional documents may be requested if the records are incomplete or differ.
The company name and registration are checked against official records (e.g. the commercial register). The name in your application must match the record exactly.
The organization's address and phone number are verified through an independent source. Having a listed company phone speeds things up.
The certificate authority calls the verified phone number to confirm the request was made on behalf of the organization.
Control of the domain is validated by email, DNS record or file. You choose the method in your panel.

Shows in the certificate details that the site really belongs to your organization.
On sites that take payment and account data, it shows visitors that the business has been validated.
Having the institution name in the certificate helps distinguish the real site from imitations.
Partners connecting to your services can verify which organization operates the server.
At DATASSL, OV SSL certificates start at $41.00 per year (excl. VAT). The lowest-priced single-domain OV product is Sectigo InstantSSL ($41.00). OV Wildcard options start at $90.00. Multi-domain (SAN) OV options start at $119.98.
If your organization details match official records, an OV certificate is usually issued within 1–3 business days. The time depends on how quickly the verification call is answered and how up to date the records are.
In most cases none; the certificate authority verifies your organization using official records. If the records are insufficient, a registration extract, tax certificate or a recent invoice issued to the organization may be requested.
Businesses that can be verified in official records can obtain OV certificates. For sole proprietorships the certificate authority may ask for additional documents; if the business cannot be verified, a DV certificate is recommended.
No. Current browsers show the same padlock for DV, OV and EV certificates. The organization name appears when the padlock is clicked and the certificate details are opened.
Yes. An OV Wildcard certificate secures all first-level subdomains of a domain with one certificate. The lowest-priced option is Certum Trusted Wildcard SSL at $90.00 per year (excl. VAT). EV certificates are not available as Wildcard.
Yes. OV is a separate product: place a new OV order and replace the certificate on your server once validation is complete. There is no downtime for your site or visitors.
Google treats HTTPS as a lightweight ranking signal; whether the certificate is DV, OV or EV does not change rankings. The benefit of OV is showing visitors and partners that the organization's identity has been validated.
