EV Multi-DomainA multi-domain SSL certificate — also known as SAN, UCC or Multi-Domain SSL — combines multiple different domains in a single certificate. The domains are written into the certificate's "Subject Alternative Name" (SAN) field; example.com, example.net and another-site.com can be secured with the same certificate.
With one certificate, one installation and one expiry date, it is easier to manage. The base price includes a set number of domains; for more, additional domains (SANs) are purchased. All domains in the certificate have the same validation level (DV, OV or EV).
DATASSL offers 40 multi-domain SSL products; annual prices start at $49.99. Below are the best-priced DV, OV and EV options of each brand (per year, excl. VAT; additional domains are priced separately).

The ordering steps are the same as for a single-domain certificate; the difference is that you also add the other domains you want to secure to the list.
The product page shows how many domains the certificate price includes; for more, you add additional domains (SANs) when ordering.
You generate the CSR with your main domain and enter the other domains in the list at the order or activation step.
Your control of each domain in the certificate is validated separately by email, DNS record or file.
You install the single issued certificate on the server or servers that host these domains.
| Single-domain SSL | Wildcard SSL | Multi-domain (SAN) SSL | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Coverage | One domain | All first-level subdomains of a domain | The different domains listed in the certificate |
| Different domains | Not covered | Not covered | Covered |
| Adding a new address | Requires a new certificate | Subdomains are covered automatically | Added to the certificate, which is then reissued |
| Validation types | DV, OV, EV | DV, OV | DV, OV, EV |
| Best for | A single site | Many subdomains | Several different sites |
You manage different brands and domains with one certificate and track a single expiry date.
Used to combine names such as mail, autodiscover and owa in a single certificate (UCC).
You secure extensions such as example.com, example.net and example.org with the same certificate.
For sites hosted on the same server, installing a single certificate is enough.
At DATASSL, multi-domain SSL certificates start at $49.99 per year (excl. VAT). The lowest-priced DV option is GoGetSSL Secure Domain SSL ($49.99). OV options start at $119.98. EV options start at $219.90. An additional SAN fee applies for domains beyond those included in the certificate price.
The number of domains included in the certificate price and the maximum number that can be added vary by product; these details are shown on the product page. You select the number you need when ordering.
Yes, all three describe the same type of certificate that combines multiple domains in a single certificate. The name UCC is used mostly for Microsoft Exchange and communications servers.
Yes. Unrelated domains such as example.com, example.net and another-site.com can be added to the same certificate. Your control of each domain is validated separately.
Yes, but the certificate must be reissued and the new domain validated. Additional domains can be added when ordering or at the activation step; to add one later, contact our support team.
If you need to secure many subdomains of a single domain, Wildcard is the right fit. If you need to secure different domains, you need a multi-domain certificate. If you have both different domains and subdomains, you can look at multi-domain Wildcard products.
Yes. A multi-domain EV certificate combines multiple domains in a single certificate with the most extensive organization validation. The lowest-priced option is GeoTrust TrueBusinessID EV at $219.90 per year (excl. VAT).
The certificate is issued once validation of all domains in the list is complete. If a domain cannot be validated, you can remove it from the list and have the certificate issued with the remaining domains.
