EV SSLAn EV (Extended Validation) SSL certificate is the certificate type with the most extensive validation of the organization's identity. The certificate authority separately checks that the organization exists legally, physically and operationally, and that the person applying is authorized to act on its behalf.
Encryption strength is the same as with DV and OV. Current browsers do not show a separate green bar in the address bar; the validated organization name appears when the padlock is clicked and the certificate details are opened. EV is the usual choice for banks, payment institutions and sites with a high risk of being impersonated.
DATASSL offers 17 EV SSL products; annual prices start at $140.00. Below are the best-priced EV options of each brand (per year, excl. VAT).

EV validation is based on your organization's official records. If the records are up to date and consistent, most steps are completed without sending documents; additional documents or written confirmation are requested for anything that remains open.
The organization is checked to be registered and active in the official register. The name in your application must match the registered name exactly.
The business address and the fact that the organization is actually operating are verified (e.g. a sufficiently old registration, an independent business directory listing or a bank confirmation).
The people who submit and approve the request are confirmed to be authorized to act on behalf of the organization; the verified company phone is called.
The organization's control of the domain is validated by email, DNS record or file.

Provides the most extensive organization validation for sites with a high risk of impersonation.
On large sites that take payments, it shows that the organization's identity has been validated in depth.
For institutions that process citizen and customer data, the institution's identity appears in the certificate with its registration details.
Meets the highest validation level requested in supplier and partner audits.
At DATASSL, EV SSL certificates start at $140.00 per year (excl. VAT). The lowest-priced single-domain EV product is GoGetSSL BusinessTrust EV ($140.00). Multi-domain (SAN) EV options start at $219.90.
If your organization's records are up to date and consistent, an EV certificate is usually issued within 1–5 business days. The time depends on how quickly the verification call and the requested confirmations are answered.
Validation is carried out primarily using official records. If the records are insufficient, a company registration extract, certificate of activity, signed request agreement or written confirmation from an accountant or lawyer may be requested.
No. Chrome and Firefox removed the green address bar and the company name in the address bar in 2019, and other browsers followed. The validated organization name now appears in the certificate details when the padlock is clicked.
No. CA/Browser Forum rules do not allow Wildcard in EV certificates. To secure multiple domains or subdomains with EV, a multi-domain (SAN) EV certificate is used.
Yes. A multi-domain EV certificate combines multiple domains in a single EV certificate. The lowest-priced option is GeoTrust TrueBusinessID EV at $219.90 per year (excl. VAT). Each domain added to the certificate is validated separately.
EV certificates are issued only to organizations and businesses registered in an official register; individuals cannot obtain an EV certificate. For registered sole proprietorships the certificate authority requires additional verification; if the business cannot be verified, OV or DV is recommended.
In both, the organization is validated and its name appears in the certificate. With EV the review is more extensive: the organization's operational existence and the applicant's authorization are also verified, and the registration number is written into the certificate. Encryption strength and the padlock in the browser are the same.
